Michael Holohan | Barrister | Brisbane
Michael has a broad insurance and consumer law practice and regularly appears as counsel in the State and Federal Courts of Australia and in arbitrations.
He specialises in insurance law (CTP, public liability, property and professional indemnity insurance), trade practices (product liability) and forensic/medical expert evidence.
Michael is the holder of a Master of Laws, Master of Science (Forensic Science), Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science degrees. He has also completed the Advanced Advocacy Course at Keble College, University of Oxford, England.
Prior to being called to the bar, Michael worked in the litigation team of a major Brisbane insurance law firm acting for a number of national defendant insurers in CTP, public liability, property and professional indemnity insurance (Medical).
He has also previously performed duties as a scientific officer with the Queensland Police Service and the Australian Federal Police where he was responsible for the examination of major crime scenes and the provision of expert evidence in forensic disciplines including arson, DNA, marks comparisons, explosives and electronic evidence/computer forensics in Queensland and overseas. He has completed a number of relevant training courses including the FBI HAZMAT and WMD Examiners Course at the FBI Academy Quantico, Virginia, USA.
He is a sessional staff member with the QUT Legal Practice Course and Faculties of Health and Science and Engineering Brisbane.
He is a member and past executive committee member of the Queensland Association of Arson Investigators.
